The companies took several of their systems offline to protect their IT infrastructure. As a result, the supermarket, drug store, and wine and liquor brand under parent company Ahold Delhaize are currently unable to deliver online orders.
The companies’ sites state that they are not working at the moment. The Albert Heijn app opens, but won’t load any content. The app only shows the individual Bonus savings card associated with the user.
Customers can also experience issues in-store, NU.nl reported . Electronic shelf labels may display incorrect prices, still showing last week’s promotions. Current prices are applied at the checkout.
The loyalty program is also not working, so customers will miss out on personal discounts. Albert Heijn asked customers to keep their receipts so that their missed discounts can be compensated, according to the newspaper.
The company did not elaborate on what the “IT incident” was. It is also unclear when it will be resolved.
Albert Heijn operates nearly 1,300 stores in the Netherlands and the Flanders region of Belgium, with a market in the Netherlands of over 38 percent. The company's app is used by over 5.5 million customers, according to 2025 data.
