Sheriff's office has new emergency notification system
ALEXANDRIA — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has a new emergency notification system to ensure timely notifications during severe weather, public safety threats, and other emergencies.
The new system is called Regroup and the sheriff's office will be sharing information on how to opt in very soon.
The county transitioned from CodeRED which experienced what it calls "a security vulnerability." There has been no confirmation that user data was compromised but best practice is for customers to change any password that may be the same as the one used to enroll in CodeRED.
The impacted dataset likely contains information of CodeRED users such as: name, address, email address, phone numbers, and password.
The county has a backup plan should the need arise to send emergency messaging during this transition period.
"We appreciate your patience as we quickly get our new system in place to serve Douglas County residents," Julie Anderson, Douglas County Emergency Management, said in a press release.
