AI-powered account hacking is rampant on the Dark Web.

SVO - Cyberattacks targeting enterprise AI model accounts and cloud computing resources have increased significantly this year.

John Hultquist, head of analytics at Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG). It was shared that this year has seen a sharp increase in cases of buying and selling AI service login credentials on the "dark web" and "black markets," as well as the illegal hijacking of server resources.

The activity, known as "LLM jacking," involves exploiting stolen access to 'Big Language Models (LLMs)' and is believed to be being used for purposes far beyond mere financial extortion.

According to Google's TAG , access to services from leading AI companies like Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI is being sold on the dark web at prices up to 97% lower than the list price. This means a service package that would normally cost $200 USD/month can be purchased for just a few dollars USD.

Even when AI companies detect unusual usage patterns and lock compromised accounts, the sellers continue their operations by offering "access guarantees," promising to replace the locked account with a new one at no extra cost.

According to John Hultquist, large-scale threat actors have now begun to leverage AI to carry out various types of cyberattacks: "Those who dismiss AI as a passing fad and stand idly by will soon find themselves in dire straits," he predicts, adding that we will face attacks and incidents on an unprecedented scale.

He emphasized that the current time is particularly favorable for hackers seeking to infiltrate the servers of targeted companies. He explained that, because many businesses are in the early stages of deploying their own AI infrastructure, a sudden surge in computing resource usage is unlikely to be considered unusual.
