BBC's Naga Munchetty 'outraged and furious' after being targeted by deepfake nudes

Naga Munchetty has been left "outraged and furious" after she was targeted by scammers who edited her head onto a naked body. The BBC Breakfast star - who also works on Radio 5 Live - has been targeted by scammers who have been using her face to trick people into accessing dodgy websites.

"Scammers are smart, conniving, manipulative, wicked people. My head was put on a naked body and used as clickbait to drag people into a scam site," she said. "I wasn’t upset that my face was on a naked body, because I knew it was fake, but the fact that it was being used to lure people into being scammed made me so mad. I am outraged and furious."

It is not the first time Naga has addressed these photos being used to clickbait onto scamming websites.

"Paid-for ads are popping up across X and , some including crudely mocked-up images of me naked – my face badly photoshopped onto someone else’s body," she wrote online.

"I was both mortified and bemused, curious who would pay good money to spread such obvious nonsense. And what was their motive? Is it something malicious?… Someone with an axe to grind? I discussed it with my 5 Live production team, and we began to dig into it more."

She added: "It soon became apparent that my name and image were being used by scammers to try to hoodwink people out of money… Clicking on the adverts took you through to a fake news article, complete with BBC logo and imagery… I’m not the first high-profile face to be used by scammers to trick people out of their hard-earned money."

Naga continued: "I'm not the first high-profile face to be used by scammers to trick people out of their hard-earned money. My fellow 5 Live presenter and Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis , has previously spoken out his face being used to front cryptocurrency scams.

"Wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham told me he first saw fake articles himself appearing on social media two years ago. He recently opened an account with Bluesky and within hours saw fake accounts re-posting these scams from other platforms."

It comes after Naga opened up her health, explaining how she has been living with a debilitating womb condition for years. She explained she has adenomyosis, a condition affecting the uterus that often goes undiagnosed despite impacting many women.

"You become conditioned to accept extreme pain with adenomyosis. [She suffers from the womb condition.] I have probably got endometriosis as well. If you’re curled up on the floor screaming, sweating, flooding, passing out, vomiting, that is debilitating. But you end up normalising that pain. It can come at any time, but you put it in a box, and you get on with your job — that’s what most women do when they’re in pain," she told The Times.
