CVE Alert: CVE-2026-97655 – IBM

Redpacketsecurity •admin • October 7, 2026

IBM Langflow OSS 1.0.0 through 1.12.2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code due to an incomplete blocklist in the code security scanner.

**Risk verdict:** This is a high-impact code-execution risk for exposed deployments; threat activity indicators were not supplied, so urgency beyond the technical severity remains uncertain.

**Why this matters:** Successful exploitation could let an attacker run code in the service’s environment, potentially exposing credentials, AI workflows, connected data, or other resources accessible to its runtime identity. No KEV, SSVC, PoC, or EPSS data was provided; check these before finalising threat-led prioritisation.

**Most likely attack path:** The service must be network reachable, and an attacker needs low-level privileges, but exploitation is otherwise described as low complexity and requires no further user action. Scope is unchanged, so impact is primarily within the service’s security authority; lateral movement may still follow if its credentials or network access are over-privileged.

**Who is most exposed:** Prioritise internet-accessible or broadly reachable Langflow deployments, especially shared development environments and instances connected to sensitive data, model services, or production systems.

Review application and reverse-proxy logs for unexpected code-scanner or flow-validation requests.

Hunt for child processes, shell commands, or files created by the service account.

Check outbound connections and credential access from Langflow hosts.

Compare workflow changes and runtime activity against approved baselines.

Mitigation and prioritisation:

Upgrade to the vendor-recommended fixed release; treat this as urgent remediation.

Until patched, restrict network access and limit the service account’s permissions and reachable secrets.

Review logs and credentials for signs of compromise; rotate exposed secrets if indicated.

Test the upgrade in a representative environment, then deploy promptly under change control.

If KEV status is confirmed or EPSS is at least 0.5, treat as priority 1.
