This October, during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we’re inviting teams to take on the Cyber Step Challenge 2026 and help walk around the world in support of people affected by cybercrime.
Cybercrime is one of the fastest growing crimes in the UK, affecting millions of people every year. From scams and hacked accounts to cyberstalking, online fraud and digital abuse, the impact can be immediate and deeply personal. People often lose money, confidence, peace of mind and their sense of safety.
That is where The Cyber Helpline comes in.
The Cyber Helpline is a free digital support service for people affected by cybercrime and online harm. We help people regain access to compromised accounts, recover from scams, improve their digital safety and take practical steps to feel safe again. For many, we are the first place they turn when something goes wrong online.
Since 2017, we have helped more than 100,000 people directly and supported millions more through our free self help guides and resources.
Cyber Step Challenge 2026 is a chance to turn movement into impact on a global scale.
Throughout October, teams from across the country will walk, run and move together with one shared goal: to collectively walk around the world while raising funds and awareness for people affected by cybercrime.
Whether you take part as a workplace team, a group of friends or on your own, every step you take helps fund free, practical support for someone facing online harm. Teams can organise themselves into groups, track their progress throughout the month and see how far their steps can take us together.
Every team can take part in their own way. Walk at lunch, take the stairs, swap meetings for walking calls or set your own team target. However you move, every step brings us closer to completing our journey around the world.
- recover from scams and fraud
- regain access to hacked accounts
- feel safer after online abuse
- rebuild confidence after cybercrime
