Data was leaked in a cyberattack on an external software vendor for the federal pension fund Publica. It is still unclear exactly what data was affected. The Office of the Attorney General has launched an investigation, Publica announced on Thursday.

The software provider detected the attack in late September and subsequently filed a criminal complaint. The company also notified the relevant federal agencies, Publica, and other customers. It is currently working with various federal agencies to determine the extent to which the pension fund’s data has been affected.

Publica has since informed the insured individuals the data breach, its potential consequences, and the measures taken. According to the statement, other federal agencies do not have any business relationships with the affected software vendor.

Publica did not provide any further details regarding the supplier's identity or the nature of the data that was leaked.

Publica is one of Switzerland’s largest pension funds. Among others, it provides pension coverage for employees of the Federal Administration and the ETH Domain. As of the end of 2025, it had approximately 70,000 active members and 41,600 pension recipients. Total assets amounted to just under 45 billion Swiss francs.
