DefiLlama Founder: Delays Mobile App Launch Due to Phishing Apps on Apple Store

Panewslab August 16, 2026

PANews reported on August 16 that, according to Cointelegraph, 0xngmi, the anonymous founder of DeFiLlama, revealed that the company postponed the release of its official mobile app because phishing apps impersonating the platform had long been present on Apple’s App Store. The team spent months reporting the malicious apps to Apple without success. Only after downloading the app and documenting the entire process by which it stole funds from a small crypto wallet did Apple take it down “within a few days.” 0xngmi said the team waited until all counterfeit apps had been removed before releasing the official app to avoid users being scammed. Fake apps impersonating Rabby Wallet and Curve Finance had previously appeared on the App Store. In November 2023, a counterfeit Ledger Live app on the Microsoft Store resulted in 38 transactions totaling $588,000 being stolen.
