DICT, KOICA join forces to establish National Cyber Security Center

MANILA (PIA) — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) joined forces with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to establish the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC).

Supporting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of building a secure and digitally empowered Philippines, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, Republic of Korea Ambassador to the Philippines H.E. Lee Sang-Hwa, KOICA Vice President Lee Yun-Young, Valenzuela City 2nd District Congressman Gerald Cloyd Alexis DV. Galang, and Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian led the groundbreaking ceremony at the DICT Valenzuela Compound, MacArthur Highway, Valenzuela City on Monday.

According to DICT, the project will strengthen the country’s ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats through advanced cybersecurity systems, enhanced information security, specialized capacity training, and the development of a highly skilled cybersecurity workforce.

Likewise, the City Government of Valenzuela said that the milestone marks the realization of a shared vision for a more secure and digitally empowered Philippines, a year after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the use of the property during the culmination of National ICT Month in 2025.

The city government also envisions that the center will help create more opportunities for aspiring technology professionals.
