Drone exploded in Constanta/AUR: National security is not defended through sterile explanations, but through competence 'After years of being told that Romania is prepared for any scenario, we find every week that the authorities are taken by surprise by each incident. Romania has reached an alarming situation. Just a few days after the Galati incident, we learn that a maritime drone loaded with explosives was discovered near the Port of Constanta, and the authorities calmly tell us that they do not know exactly how it got there, how long it was in the area, or even what the real level of danger was. (...) The problem is not just the existence of these incidents, but the state's inability to prevent them, to detect them in time, and to respond firmly when they occur,' says an AUR press release sent to AGERPRES on Friday. According to AUR, the Government has the obligation to explain what provisional measures have been taken to protect citizens and strategic infrastructure. 'We cannot accept that Romania remains vulnerable and operates based on the hope that nothing will happen. The responsibility for this new security crisis belongs entirely to those in power today. It is all the more serious as these incidents are happening at a time when Romania is going through a prolonged political crisis, does not have a government with full powers, and the appointment of a new executive leadership is being delayed for political reasons and through artifice that defies the spirit of the Constitution. Instead of providing stability and ensuring the functioning of state institutions in a complicated regional context, those in power seem to be exclusively concerned with political calculations and the sharing of power. Romania cannot afford this luxury. National security cannot be put on hold until the parties in power resolve their internal disputes,' the statement said. AUR highlights that 'a serious state inspires trust through competence and responsiveness.' 'Unfortunately, what we see today is exactly the opposite: improvisation, lack of answers and a leadership that seems overwhelmed by events. National security is not defended through press releases and sterile explanations, but through competence, vigilance and real capacity for action. When a regime manages to generate political, economic and security crises simultaneously, Romanians have every right to wonder if it has not become part of the problem itself, not the solution,' reports AUR.
