The test, conducted on June 2, 2026, used VB100 methodology version 1.7 on a Windows 11 Pro platform. Emsisoft Anti-Malware (version 2026.1.0.12700) was evaluated against recent malware samples and legitimate files.
The VB100 certification , administered by Virus Bulletin since 1998, measures two fundamental capabilities of security products: accurate malware detection and minimal false alarms.
Products must meet two criteria to pass:
Performance above the pass mark receives a grade from A+ (99.5% or higher) to D (75-84%). Emsisoft’s Grade A requires a minimum 97% detection rate. The entire process follows the AMTSO Standard . This guarantees methodological transparency and reproducibility.
The certification set contained 1,977 samples of “common and prevalent Windows malware recently observed in the wild,” all of which were Windows PE executables. The clean set comprised 99,999 legitimate program files, representing a wide cross-section of common system utilities and applications.
