AI Deepfake Scandals Impact Elections and Schools in Australia In March 2026, deepfake technology has emerged as a significant threat in Australia, influencing both political landscapes and educational institutions. The Victorian state election is at risk due to deepfakes of Premier Jacinta Allan, which experts warn could mislead voters despite their awareness of the falsity. Concurrently, a scandal involving AI-generated nude images has surfaced at Central Coast Grammar School, prompting an investigation into the allegations. Both incidents highlight the growing misuse of deepfake technology, raising concerns about misinformation and privacy violations. The political implications could sway voter opinions, while the school scandal could affect student reputations and trust in educational institutions. As of now, investigations are ongoing in both cases, with no confirmed resolutions reported. 10 sources 56
