Everyone using Chrome must restart their browser to fix critical issues

All Chrome users are urged to check their web browser and ensure it is fully up to date. That's due to Google confirming the release of a new version of its web-surfing software that fixes numerous security issues.

In fact, the latest update mends a whopping 327 gremlins, so it is definitely not something anyone should ignore. To make matters worse, ten have been branded critical vulnerabilities, which means there could be serious consequences if users don't act.

“Chrome 152.0.7977.64 (Linux) 152.0.7977.64/.65 Windows/Mac contains a number of fixes and improvements,” Google said in a post on its blog page.

“We would also like to thank all security researchers that worked with us during the development cycle to prevent security bugs from ever reaching the stable channel."

Although nobody has been impacted just yet, the security team at Malwarebytes says two of the bugs are particularly concerning, as both could be triggered by an unprotected Chrome user simply visiting a malicious website.

Anyone targeted in future could find their PC is attacked by hackers who can then execute something called arbitrary code. For those not aware, an attacker can then make a computer, phone or other device run commands or software of their choice. This can be extremely serious, as criminals may use the vulnerability to grab personal information, install malware, change settings or take control of the affected device without the owner's permission.

Explaining more, Malwarebytes said : “Chrome vulnerabilities that enable remote code execution outside the browser sandbox are particularly valuable to attackers because they can turn a visit to a malicious or compromised website into direct code execution on the underlying operating system, often without requiring additional exploitation steps."

It’s now vital that all Chrome users check their settings and make sure they are running the very latest version of this popular software.

If a device has Chrome 152.0.7977.64 (Linux) 152.0.7977.64/.65 Windows/Mac installed, then it’s fully up to date. Anything to that could remain a risk and should be updated as soon as possible.

HOW TO MAKE SURE YOUR PC IS PROTECTED

It's very simple to update Chrome, though you may need to restart the browser to complete.

To update manually, just click the More (three dots), then go to Settings > Chrome. If an update is available, Chrome will start downloading it automatically.
