Back Playday. One Gears of War: E-Day Suffers DDOS Attacks Causing Player Disruption
Following a weekend of long matchmaking and login queues, the team at The Coalition have advised players that Gears of War: E-Day has been suffering from repeated DDOS (Distributed-denial-of-service) attacks on their online services.
On Sunday, players started to experience a number of issues logging into and playing Gears of War: E-Day , with queues deployed to get players into online games. The support team acknowledged the issues quickly, sharing an update online that the team were ‘ aware of an issue causing extending login times for Gears of War: E-Day ‘ and that the issue was improving with further updates to follow. As it turns out, the issue was caused by DDOS attacks.
Earlier today, some players experienced intermittent disconnects, login issues, or other service disruptions in Gears of War: E-Day. These issues were due to distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks targeting our online services. Our teams are continuing to monitor and mitigate this activity. We’ll provide updates if there are any significant changes. Thank you for your patience and understanding. — Gears Community (@Community_Gears) October 12, 2026

Quite why anyone would want to target a video game is quite beyond me, but at least the cause has been identified and mitigated for the time being.
