Hackers Dupe ChatGPT And Grok To Install Malware On Devices, Here's What You Should Know

According to Huntress, hackers are using ChatGPT and Grok to plan harmful insutrctions that up at the top of common queries in Google . Now, this can dupe the people in to running dangerous commands on their own computers.

As for its working, to trigger the whole process, attackers initiate a conversation with AI chatbots a popular topic. In the chat, they ask the model to suggest entering a particular command in a computer's terminal. This command can be designed to let hacker have the access to the system of the victim.

After that, the hackers can make the AI conversation public and even pay a minimal fee to boost the same so that it appears high in Google results. And as soon as the users for the topic, the malicious links appear at the top pretending to be informational content.

And this is not something hypothetical as explained by Huntress, the method has been the key factor in spreading real-world infection involving a Mac targeting malware dubbed AMOS. What happened that time was is a Mac users searched for clear disk space on Mac, clicked a ChatGPT link in Google, and followed the terminal command integrated in AI chat. Now, running the command let the hackers to secretly install AMOS malware.
