KSB Centralizes Global Security Visibility Across 90+ Entities with SentinelOne

Sentinelone • October 21, 2026

Across 75 countries, KSB leverages SentinelOne to safeguard 18,000+ endpoints, compressing hundreds of monthly anomalies into a handful of actionable alerts. The historic manufacturer has eliminated visibility gaps, secured its critical operational technology, and established 24/7 security orchestration to defend more than 150 years of proprietary engineering knowledge.

Safeguarding the World’s Critical Infrastructure

From the Burj Khalifa in Dubai to municipal drinking water infrastructure in New York, Sydney, and Montreal, KSB pumps and valves support the world’s most demanding industrial environments. For the more than 150-year-old manufacturing pioneer, cybersecurity goes beyond an IT mandate. It’s a critical layer of defense required to safeguard operational business continuity and protect repositories of proprietary engineering designs across more than 90 corporate entities worldwide.

At this global scale, protection depends on comprehensive visibility.

“You can only protect what you know,” said Matthias Scheuerer, Cybersecurity Specialistat KSB.

Based in Germany, KSB’s centralized cybersecurity team provides macro governance, while local IT teams and third-party vendors handle daily infrastructure operations across five continents. Historically, this highly distributed operating structure introduced significant operational complexity across endpoint devices, remote servers, identity architectures, and global regulatory frameworks. With so much at stake, KSB can’t afford blind spots.

“A cyberattack disturbs everything for a certain period of time, where either you can’t work at all or you can only work in a very limited way,” said Harald Zollbrecht, Head of IT Management of Regions and IT Security at KSB.

Modern Endpoint Protection, Proven Under Pressure

KSB was already looking at upgrading its endpoint security when they were faced with a live threat. The company’s cyber insurance provider brought in a forensic partner, who immediately deployed SentinelOne to stabilize the network. That immediate, firsthand proof of the platform’s unprecedented transparency, visibility, and autonomous containment capabilities gave KSB confidence to move forward with SentinelOne.

“We rolled out SentinelOne with light speed throughout all our companies,” recalled Zollbrecht. “We were happy to get a clean infrastructure and better protection.”

Eradicating Blind Spots in Decentralized Environments

Prior to KSB standardizing on the Singularity platform, fragmentation across its global estate created exposures where phishing, unauthorized software, suspicious endpoint behavior, or early indicators of compromise could quietly evade detection.

“ From one day to another, we got unbelievable transparency with SentinelOne. Now, we know how many computers and servers are managed, their operating systems, and what is used. ” - Harald Zollbrecht , Head of IT Management of Regions and IT Security, KSB

The newfound visibility provides the team actionable context across the global environment. SentinelOne can quickly isolate “patient zero,” halt malicious behavioral patterns in real time, and neutralize localized anomalies before they can propagate across the enterprise network.

This security template has also transformed KSB’s corporate merger and acquisition workflow. The Singularity agent is now deployed as a critical priority on day one of any new corporate integration.

“One of the first things we do when we acquire a company is install SentinelOne,” Zollbrecht said. “Employees may not yet be in any of our systems, but they have SentinelOne within the first weeks.”

Eliminating Alert Fatigue with Wayfinder MDR

With operations on five continents, KSB requires security coverage that extends beyond business hours and regional time zones.

“You never get attacked during the week 9 to 5. Never,” Zollbrecht said. To achieve continuous protection, KSB integrated SentinelOne Wayfinder MDR into its operations center, unlocking around-the-clock monitoring, rapid triage, and professional incident response. Each month, Wayfinder MDR investigates more than 3,000 alerts for KSB, saving the internal team more than 125 hours of investigation time while escalating only 0.1% of total alerts on average.

“ Because we only get five actionable alerts out of hundreds of threats, there is no fatigue for our team. ” - Harald Zollbrecht , Head of IT Management of Regions and IT Security, KSB

For KSB, that means Wayfinder MDR filters background noise, validates potential threats, and helps contain incidents before they can become broader disruptions. With expanded telemetry available from SentinelOne, the MDR team also helps KSB quickly map incidents, define scope, and determine whether external forensic support is required.

Hardening the Identity Perimeter and Supplier Governance

To reduce risks related to Active Directory misconfigurations, KSB expanded its SentinelOne coverage to include Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM). With SentinelOne, the team runs automated, routine scans that surface hidden identity exposures, misconfigured permissions, and high-risk service accounts. ISPM brings both technical control and powerful vendor oversight.

A Single Console for Multi-Vector Defense

“In case of an attack, you need to be fast,” Zollbrecht said. “Fast means logging into one console with a good overview, not five consoles.”

To support their ongoing operational maturity, KSB collaborates closely with a native German-speaking SentinelOne Technical Account Manager (TAM), giving the team direct access to platform guidance as its global environment scales.

“Our TAM helps us get the most from our licenses and features,” Scheuerer said. “Having a German-speaking TAM makes our life easier, and we get a lot of good tips and best practices.”

As emerging risks surrounding shadow AI tools, shifting compliance frameworks, and supply chain security continue to complicate industrial manufacturing, KSB possesses an autonomous foundation capable of adapting to the threat landscape.

“ SentinelOne gives us broader coverage across KSB than any other tool. We are very happy with the product, the support, and the Wayfinder MDR team. ” - Harald Zollbrecht , Head of IT Management of Regions and IT Security, KSB
