Russia's interference in Moldova's internal affairs is, unfortunately, becoming the new normal. As reported by INFOTAG, Maia Sandu stated this on Thursday at a briefing with European Commissioner Marta Kos.

"Regardless of whether Moldova's EU accession negotiations open in the coming days, interference will continue. It will continue even after Russia sees Moldova taking very clear steps to move closer to the EU," she said. According to her, this constant interference must be met with sustained efforts to counter these challenges. "The ongoing war in Ukraine is proof that no one can feel safe, especially countries in the region." If drones fail to reach the target, Russia will resort to hybrid warfare to interfere and destabilize democracies on the continent," Sandu believes. According to Marta Kos, Europe is well aware of "what Russia is capable of," and Moldova has already become a security provider for other countries. Specifically, Moldova's experience in combating election interference will be used in Armenia and Montenegro, where elections will be held soon. The European Commissioner called security a priority for the EU. "80% of the EU population believes we must do more to ensure security, and 70% believe they are under threat from Russia. This gives us a clear mandate (to ensure security – "I."), and we cannot ensure it without the involvement of our neighbors, including Moldova," she believes.
