Back Wccftech Microsoft Will Automatically Enable A Windows 11 Feature That'll Disable Any Undervolting ...
Windows 11 introduced a feature called Memory Integrity as part of Microsoft’s plan to bolster security on the operating system. This approach helps keep nefarious programs like malware at bay, and to maintain this level of protection, the company is said to automatically enable the feature in a future update. However, there will be various consequences for those who plan to keep it enabled.
In addition to locking any undervolting software, there’s also a possibility that enabling Memory Integrity reduces gaming performance
As part of the changes being made to Windows 11, which also includes improving memory efficiency for 8GB RAM systems , Windows Latest reports that a patch scheduled for October 13 will not just enable Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) but Memory Integrity too. By restricting kernel-mode execution to trusted code and drivers only, Microsoft aims to close off critical attacks on Windows 11 systems, which have become an increasingly common target.
While it’s not recommended to disable Memory Integrity, for some use cases, you’ll have little choice but to keep the feature turned off. For example, there have been reports that enabling Core Isolation (another term for Memory Integrity) can reduce gaming performance, though we haven’t seen this sort of degradation previously on our gaming desktops.
However, gaming laptop owners who have successfully kept their machines running at lower temperatures through undervolting will face a major conundrum. Since programs like ThrottleStop and Intel XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility) rely on disabling Windows Virtualization through the advanced BIOS, it’s likely that enabling Memory Integrity will require a system reset, which will change the BIOS settings and nullify the undervolt.
Since it’s a headache getting ThrottleStop to run at your desired undervolts and there are numerous settings to tweak, it’s probably a good idea to keep Memory Integrity turned off. At the same time, we also recommend not venturing off into downloading and installing questionable software and programs from unverified websites, or else you’re just inviting trouble.
