The National Anti-Corruption Bureau has warned citizens fraud online: criminals are sending phishing emails that appear to be from the agency. In NABU’s press service, they cautioned that some recipients are being invited to appear for questioning as suspects, hinting at supposedly secret checks.
On November 24, NABU also reported the distribution of phishing emails sent on behalf of the agency from the domain nabu.org.ua. It was emphasized that the bureau’s official domain name is nabu.gov.ua.
Earlier there were also reports of fake messages allegedly concerning the payment of fines on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In such a letter the criminals threaten to block the computer in case of refusing to pay.
To stay safe, verify the sender’s address and the domain: official NABU messages come from the bureau’s official domain, and not from suspicious addresses. Do not click on suspicious links, do not provide personal data, and do not pay fines for messages from unknown sources. If in doubt, the bureau’s official channels and report suspicious messages.
