OpenAI has formed cybersecurity cooperation with the Korean government and some private companies to provide its latest security-specific artificial intelligence (AI) model.

With the importance of securing AI technology in the security sector after the advent of the anthology "Mitos," the Korean government is expected to build cyber defense capabilities by securing open AI technology access.

Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer of OpenAI, held a meeting at the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 27th and announced the "OpenAI Korea Cyber Action Plan," saying, "The latest cyber AI capabilities should not be limited to a few, and Korea's major defense players should be able to use them to strengthen common security and public safety."

OpenAI unveiled its cybersecurity initiative 'Daybreak' last month and is promoting global cooperation to strengthen AI-based cybersecurity capabilities.

As OpenAI formalized cooperation with Korea, Korea also secured access to the latest cybersecurity-specific models.

As part of this, the South Korean government will participate with Japan for the first time in Asia in GTAC, a trust-based access (TAC) program in the cyber sector operated by OpenAI.

We will demonstrate the latest cybersecurity-specific models to government officials and expand access to them to qualified institutions and authorities, CSO Kwon said. "It also includes expanding the TAC program to major companies in charge of key industries in the country."

OpenAI unveiled the 'GPT-5.5 Cyber' model, which is customized for the security area based on the latest model, GPT-5.5, earlier this month.

Institutions and companies participating in the TAC program will be able to preemptively find and supplement vulnerabilities in their software using the model, and will work with OpenAI in the process of establishing a security system that can respond to the AI era in the long run. The AI coding tool 'Codex' to which the model is applied can also be used.

South Korea has been seeking to participate in Anthropic's initiative "Project Glaswing," but it has been struggling as the project Glaswing has been closed to U.S. companies.
