Sony has released PS5 system update 26.07-14.22.00, bringing security fixes to the console. The update is available now, although Sony has not provided details the vulnerabilities addressed in the latest firmware.
The official patch notes contain just one change, with Sony confirming that it has “made some security fixes to the system software.” No additional improvements or adjustments have been listed.
The PS5 system update arrives shortly after reports of new jailbreak activity involving firmware version 14.20. Security researcher kuzibelit recently claimed to have discovered a userland entry point on the console just hours after the firmware became available.
According to a post shared on X, the researcher successfully used the Remote Lua Loader to execute payloads on the system. The demonstration reportedly showed an FTP server listening on port 1337, suggesting that the exploit had reached a functional stage.
The discovery followed earlier developments in the PS5 homebrew community. The Relapse exploit chain previously extended public jailbreaking support to firmware 13.60 , while significantly reducing payload loading times compared with older methods. However, Sony subsequently patched the vulnerabilities used by Relapse in firmware 14.00 and later releases.
As a result, consoles running firmware 14.00 or newer had generally been considered unsupported by public jailbreak methods until another working entry point could be discovered and released.
Sony has continued releasing PS5 firmware updates addressing security vulnerabilities alongside system stability and interface improvements. Recent versions in the 26.06 and 26.07 branches have included refinements to system performance and changes intended to address potential security weaknesses.
