Reminder: Missouri's Age

Uk.Pcmag • November 28, 2025

In case you missed it, Missouri's age-verification law for sites with adult content is set to take effect this weekend.

The revised Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA), effective Nov. 30, requires any platform where one-third or more of the content is sexually explicit to use age-verification tools to prevent minors from accessing it.

These websites can use a commercially available tool that verifies age using government IDs or any other reasonable method that's permitted under the MMPA. Failure to implement these safeguards will result in penalties as high as $10,000 per day, TechRadar reports .

"We are holding powerful corporations accountable, respecting women and victims of human trafficking, and helping ensure that minors are shielded from dangerous, sexually explicit material," Missouri's Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said in September.

With this, Missouri joins a long list of states where online pornography is banned for minors.

It is likely to take the same approach in Missouri, but Aylo has yet to confirm its plans. Adults who do get blocked can always use a VPN to get around the restrictions.

In July, age verification was mandated in the UK for all social media and adult-content platforms. The regulation, however, didn't get off to a good start. IDs of 70,000 users were reportedly exposed after a data breach at the third-party firm Discord used for its age verification.
