(WJAR) — The Rhode Island Department of State said that voters should be aware of a phishing scam that purports to allow voters to verify their information.

The department's Election Division said the phishing email comes from an address that reads as "[email protected]," has the subject line "2026 Vote RI Gov Information Verification," and asks voters to review their voter information and click a link to confirm or update that information.

"Rhode Island election officials will never ask you to click a link to verify voter information unless you are on our trusted website (vote.ri.gov) and only after you have entered your personal information," a message from the department said.

Anyone who receives the email should not click any links and delete it.
