Details: The incident occurred on the morning of 5 June near berths No. 77-78 at the port of Constanța. The authorities activated a "red" response plan. The port was evacuated and local residents were advised to seek shelter.

Sources told Digi24 that the drone got stuck in a pollution-control barrier a few hundred metres from the oil terminal.

Early reports indicate there are no casualties or persons injured in the explosion. Digi24 reported that the drone was Ukrainian and was carrying dozens of kilogrammes of explosives. Its detonation was not controlled. It remains unclear how the drone reached the Romanian port.

President Nicușor Dan was informed of the incident aboard a Spartan aircraft as he travelled to Montenegro for the EU-Western Balkans Summit. Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was also briefed on the situation and is expected to visit the Ministry of the Interior.
