Security services do not rule out sabotage in Bulgaria
Plamen Tonchev, Chairman of Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security, has not ruled out acts of sabotage on Bulgarian territory . This became clear during a hearing in the National Assembly concerning an investigation into the suspected arson on antennas installed near Sofia to connect to the American satellite system Starlink.
A few days ago, Ivaylo Mirchev, co-chairman of Yes, Bulgaria!, announced that 11 antennas for communication with the Starlink satellite system had been deliberately set on fire at a classified site near the capital city. According to Plamen Tonchev, Ukraine also uses the system’s communication capabilities for military purposes.

“Similar acts of sabotage cannot be ruled out in the future. Every day, we identify individuals conducting various forms of surveillance of critical infrastructure, including railway bridges and train stations. I call for calm and unity so that Bulgaria and the European Union can get through these difficult times”, Plamen Tonchev said.
He assured lawmakers that the State Agency for National Security has sufficient personnel and capabilities to counter activities by Russian intelligence services, BNR reporter Maria Fileva informed.
