Back Indiatoday. In Supreme Court warns public against fake website harvesting sensitive data
The Supreme Court Registry has warned the public a website impersonating the court. The alert underscores phishing risks and urges users to protect sensitive data.
The Supreme Court Registry on Tuesday warned the public a fraudulent website impersonating the court’s official site and advised people not to personal or financial information, news agency Press Trust of India reported.
The newly identified fraudulent domain, scigovinjudicial.com, may be used by cybercriminals to seek sensitive personal data and confidential login details, the Registry said.
“The Registry hereby cautions all stakeholders against a newly identified fraudulent domain, scigovinjudicial.com, which is currently impersonating the official online presence of this Court,” the public notice said.
The advisory was issued in continuation of public notices dated July 16, 2025, April 28, 2026, and August 13, 2026, concerning deceptive websites created to copy the Supreme Court of India’s official website and defraud people through targeted phishing attempts.
According to PTI, the Registry cautioned people against disclosing personal or financial information, saying this could allow those behind the fraudulent website to steal their data. It also advised users to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of all electronic communications.
“The Supreme Court of India is the registered user of the domain sci.gov.in. Users are encouraged to verify the authenticity of URLs by hovering over them prior to any engagement,” the notice said.
The Registry said people who suspect that they have been affected by the phishing attempt should immediately change the passwords of all their online accounts and inform their banks any unauthorised access.
The Registry had earlier issued a public notice multiple fake websites impersonating the Supreme Court’s official site and seeking personal details and confidential information. It has again urged people to use only the official sci.gov.in domain and avoid sharing sensitive information with suspicious websites. - Ends
