SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 24-year-old man from Springfield is expected to plead guilty in federal court on Friday to charges related to hacking the Supreme Court ’s electronic filing system.
In a motion filed on Tuesday, Nicholas Moore stated that he wishes to change his plea on Friday via video. He was charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia with one count of fraud activity connected to computers.
In a court filing on Jan. 8, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro alleged that from Aug. 29, 2023, to Oct. 22 that year, Moore “ intentionally accessed a computer without authorization on 25 different days and thereby obtained information from a protected computer.”
According to Tuesday’s motion, Moore has no criminal record and lives with his parents in Springfield. The court filing says that he does not have a car, does not drive, and does not work due to mental health disabilities “that have debilitated him since his childhood,” the filing says.
He has agreed to plead guilty to a Class A misdemeanor.
