The EU imposes sanctions against several individuals for cyber sabotage attributed to Russia / Romania, among the countries targeted by cyber attacks.

The EU has adopted new sanctions against a new individual and four entities for acts of cyber espionage and sabotage attributed to Russia, targeting EU member states, including Romania, as well as its international partners.

The sanctioned individuals are intelligence officers from the GRU, as well as "private companies that contribute to Russia's efforts to destabilize the EU.

"These activities have included infiltrating government networks and sabotaging critical infrastructure. Among the targeted countries were France, Germany, Poland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovakia, Romania, and Finland. In France, "Center 16" has conducted cyber espionage activities against strategic government entities since 2010, as well as against the defense industry. In Germany, it targeted government entities.
