Back Ktul Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust reports data security incident after unauthorized access
TULSA, OKLA. (KTUL) — Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust is notifying the public a data security incident after determining that an unauthorized third party accessed and acquired certain files from its computer system.
TAIT said it determined on Jan. 20, 2026, that the unauthorized access occurred between Jan. 17, 2026, and Jan. 20, 2026.
After discovering the incident, TAIT said it took immediate steps to secure its network, retained a leading cybersecurity firm to conduct a forensic investigation and mitigation effort, and notified law enforcement.
The investigation is ongoing, but TAIT said it is confident it has secured its computer systems.
TAIT said some of the affected files contained personally identifiable information, including names combined with one or more of the following: addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or other unique government-issued identification numbers, and routing and financial account numbers.
TAIT said not every data element was involved for every affected individual.
TAIT said it is implementing additional and/or enhanced safeguards, including risk assessments, technical and physical layered defenses, employee training, and updates to its TSA-approved incident response plan.
TAIT also said it has enhanced monitoring to help prevent a recurrence and that it uses industry-standard security solutions to support threat detection, network monitoring, government-supported cyber protection, and multi-factor authentication for system access.
TAIT encouraged people who may be affected to remain vigilant by reviewing account statements and monitoring credit reports for suspicious activity.
