Software Description:

- linux-azure-6.17: Linux kernel for Microsoft Azure cloud systems

- linux-gcp-6.17: Linux kernel for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) systems

- linux-hwe-6.17: Linux hardware enablement (HWE) kernel

- linux-oem-6.17: Linux kernel for OEM systems

- linux-realtime-6.17: Linux kernel for Real-time systems

Several security issues were discovered in the Linux kernel.

An attacker could possibly use these to compromise the system.

This update corrects flaws in the following subsystems:

- InfiniBand drivers;

- Mellanox network drivers;

- Texas Instruments network drivers;

- File systems infrastructure;

- SMB network file system;

- Network traffic control;

- TCP network protocol;

- Locking primitives;

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package versions: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS linux-image-6.17.0-1019-realtime 6.17.0-1019.22 Available with Ubuntu Pro linux-image-6.17.0-1022-azure 6.17.0-1022.22 linux-image-6.17.0-1022-gcp 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-6.17.0-1022-gcp-64k 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-6.17.0-1032-oem 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-6.17.0-42-generic 6.17.0-42.42+1 linux-image-6.17.0-42-generic-64k 6.17.0-42.42+1 linux-image-azure 6.17.0-1022.22 linux-image-azure-6.17 6.17.0-1022.22 linux-image-gcp 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-gcp-6.17 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-gcp-64k 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-gcp-64k-6.17 6.17.0-1022.25 linux-image-generic-6.17 6.17.0-42.42 linux-image-generic-64k-6.17 6.17.0-42.42 linux-image-oem-24.04 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-oem-24.04a 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-oem-24.04b 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-oem-24.04c 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-oem-24.04d 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-oem-6.17 6.17.0-1032.32 linux-image-realtime-6.17 6.17.0-1019.22 Available with Ubuntu Pro linux-image-realtime-hwe-24.04 6.17.0-1019.22 Available with Ubuntu Pro linux-image-virtual-6.17 6.17.0-42.42 After a standard system update you need to reboot your computer to make all the necessary changes. ATTENTION: Due to an unavoidable ABI change the kernel updates have been given a new version number, which requires you to recompile and reinstall all third party kernel modules you might have installed. Unless you manually uninstalled the standard kernel metapackages (e.g. linux-generic, linux-generic-lts-RELEASE, linux-virtual, linux-powerpc), a standard system upgrade will automatically perform this as well.
