Ukraine Faces Critical Shortage of Patriot Missiles Amid Intensifying Russian Strikes Ukraine is experiencing a severe shortage of PAC-2 and PAC-3 interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on October 16, 2026. Most available supplies have been redirected to the Middle East, leaving Ukraine vulnerable to Russian attacks. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is not the top priority for missile allocation, despite receiving some missiles through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative. Reports indicate that Ukraine has nearly exhausted its stockpile of these interceptors, significantly hampering its ability to intercept incoming Russian ballistic missiles. The situation has raised concerns about Ukraine's capability to defend critical infrastructure, especially the energy sector, as Russian strikes continue. Zelenskyy noted ongoing efforts to secure additional missiles from international partners, albeit in limited quantities. The urgency of strengthening Ukraine's air defenses is underscored by the increasing frequency of Russian attacks. 2 sources 74
