Scammers are sending emails pretending to be Ukrenenergo that urge you to download attachments. Stay cautious — the files can install malware and steal credentials.

JSC Ukrenergo does not send outage schedules or invoices for services to personal email inboxes.
The company’s press service posted a statement in its Telegram channel: the message discusses the appearance of emails allegedly sent on behalf of JSC Ukrenergo. The topics of these messages vary, but overall they aim to prompt recipients to download attachments or click on links.
“Caution, a fake! Emails – allegedly from JSC Ukrenergo – have started arriving to the inboxes of many Ukrainians. The subjects of these messages vary, but generally they are such as to prompt recipients to download attachments or click on links: ‘Power outage schedule from June 10 to 12’, ‘Electricity bill’, etc.”

At risk are primarily users with email addresses on domains @i.ua, @ua.fm, @email.ua. Cybersecurity experts do not rule out the possibility of this distribution for other email services as well.
The recipient is offered to download a “document from the official site”, which actually hides malware. After launch, this program can steal passwords, banking data, and personal information, grant third-party access to the user’s device, and use it for cyberattacks.
They report that the scammers send emails from supposedly official Ukrenergo addresses – [email protected] . Such masking allows criminals to gain the recipients’ trust. According to cybersecurity data, the distribution of fraudulent content may originate from Russia.
Note! JSC Ukrenergo never sends outage schedules or payment receipts via private messages.
The company urges Ukrainians not to follow links or download files, and to delete such messages from their mailboxes.
