Update on investigation into hackers who 'removed data' from Nuneaton school

An update has been given in the investigation into hackers who closed a Nuneaton school for weeks. The whole IT system at Higham Lane was 'brought down' by a serious cyber attack.

It meant the Shanklin Drive-based school could not open for the start of term in January. It was closed for several weeks before officially re-opening to all pupils on January 19.

The school admitted 'data was removed' but it was still not yet known what data nor how much was taken by the hackers. Warwickshire Police is investigating and the Department for Education is also involved.

In a new statement, a spokesperson of Higham Lane school said: "We are pleased students have returned to lessons and shown great maturity, and we’re grateful for the resilience and professionalism of staff during this period.

"The school continues to work with external advisers on the investigation into the cyber incident. We’ll further information when we’re able to."
