Uzbekistan Investigates Possible Safe Service Data Leak

frank.uz • November 5, 2026

Authorities in Uzbekistan have opened a joint review of reports that personal data may have leaked from SAFE Service, the app previously known as SafeRoad. The review involves the Interior Ministry, the Cybersecurity Center under the State Security Service and Autodoc, which develops and operates the platform.

The Interior Ministry announced the review on October 29. It has not confirmed a leak: specialists will establish whether social media reports are accurate and where the information being circulated originated.

What the review will examine

Investigators will establish the sources of the information and the circumstances of its distribution. They will also determine whether personal data leaked from SAFE Service or other relevant information systems and electronic platforms. The ministry did not identify any other specific services.

The ministry has promised further official information once the review is complete. If the reports are not substantiated, it also intends to explain why they appeared and where they originated.

The developer’s response

SAFE Service denied the reports on October 28. The company said the information being circulated had been collected from various sources long before the app launched and was unrelated to the company. It also said it was working with the relevant government authorities.

That is the company’s position; official findings from the joint review have not yet been released. The ministry’s statement establishes neither that a leak occurred nor that investigators have ruled one out.

SAFE Service began as the automotive service SafeRoad. According to its official website, the app now combines services for motorists, document services, household services and payments.
