Back Kttc Winona County gives update on ransomware incident affecting computer network
WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) – Winona County has provided an update to residents regarding the recent ransomware attack that affected the county’s computer network.
In January, the county first noted it had identified and responded to a ransomware incident, which was affecting its computer network. This prompted an investigation by the county to assess the impact of the incident.
As of now, the county administrator is warning residents that certain county services may face delays while systems are offline. Officials investigating the incident are being assisted by cybersecurity and data forensics experts, while also working with federal law enforcement.
County Administrator Maureen Holte says officials are still monitoring the situation and are working to quickly restore systems.
It is unknown at this time if any personal information of residents was impacted.
