'Your Army Is Your Enemy': Pakistan's Top Media Outlet Geo News Hacked

In a significant development, the website of Geo News, one of Pakistan’s leading news channels, was hacked on Sunday, with the hackers displaying messages against the Pakistani military.

After the Geo News website was hacked, the message displayed on the screen read, “Your Army is Your Enemy." Another message read, “ Tumhari Fauj Kr Makhsoos Halkey Ne Poorie Tabahie Se Dochaar Kr Diya Hai — Is Ke Khilaaaf Kharey Ho Jao — Is Ke Saamney Kharey Ho Jaao (Your army and your designated constituency have brought complete destruction — Rise against it — Stand up to it)."

Viewers in multiple regions reported that the channel suddenly disappeared from satellite screens, displaying a notice that the service was unavailable, as per Pakistani reports. Moments later, the broadcast feed showed an image featuring Urdu text set against a backdrop of an explosion and the Pakistani flag – an apparent sign of a security breach in the transmission.

Neither Geo News management nor the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had released an official response. Media technology experts point out that such incidents frequently result from uplink interference or frequency spoofing, where unauthorized signals can briefly override a broadcast if security safeguards are circumvented.

The TV channel of Geo News was hacked with an anti-military message for a few minutes before it went off air. The website of Geo News is functioning normally as of now. Early indications point to possible signal interference or frequency override, tactics commonly linked to satellite signal hijacking.
