Singapore's police cyber command is combating a surge in AI-assisted phishing scams. Scammers are sending messages pretending to be from courier companies, claiming delivery issues and requesting payment for redelivery. Victims unknowingly provide their credit card details to fraudsters through fake websites. The police's Cyber Command, launched two months ago, consolidates efforts to tackle cybercrime and scams. Inspector Harbhajan Kaur noted that AI enhances social engineering tactics, making them more convincing and scalable. The unit collaborates with international partners to disrupt cybercriminal networks. Despite a decrease in scam cases in the first half of 2026, the overall level remains high, with ongoing challenges in victim reporting delays.
