The acquisition aims to enhance AMD's capabilities in developing AI hardware, software, and systems, particularly focusing on spatial-intelligence models. World Labs, founded in 2024, is known for its innovative world generation model called Marble, which allows users to create interactive 3D environments. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval. Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist, continuing to lead AI model research within the company. This acquisition follows AMD's earlier agreement to purchase Taalas, which specializes in high-performance AI chips.
