Apple has announced that John Giannandrea, the senior vice president for Machine Learning and AI Strategy, will retire in spring 2026. He will serve as an advisor until his retirement, with Amar Subramanya, a former Microsoft executive, taking over as vice president of AI, reporting to Craig Federighi. Subramanya will lead efforts in Apple Foundation Models, ML research, and AI Safety and Evaluation.
