Blykalla has applied for Swedish government financing to build an advanced nuclear reactor park in Norrsundet, aiming for a total capacity of 330 MW. This project, featuring six SEALER reactors, is the first under a new financing model effective since August 2025. The reactors are designed to meet Sweden's increasing electricity demand, projected to double by 2045 due to industrial electrification and data centers. The financing model includes government loans, a two-way Contract for Difference, and a risk-sharing mechanism. Blykalla's CEO, Jacob Stedman, emphasized the project's significance for clean baseload power. The application follows Vattenfall's request for funding for its own reactor plans. The project is expected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 150,000 homes and could start operations in the early 2030s. Approval from various regulatory bodies is required before construction can commence.
