On May 23, 2026, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan stated that future wars will involve multi-domain operations, integrating land, sea, air, cyberspace, and cognitive warfare. He emphasized that modern warfare is evolving beyond traditional troop strength and weaponry, with technologies like AI, drones, and cyber systems reshaping battlefields. The CDS noted that future conflicts will extend into digital networks and cyber infrastructure, making innovation and rapid adaptation crucial for military success. He highlighted India's growing defense manufacturing capabilities, with domestic production reaching Rs 1.27 lakh crore and exports surpassing Rs 38,000 crore.
