The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has launched a cybersecurity training programme aimed at creating 5,000 cyber commandos to enhance its personnel's capabilities against digital threats. The advanced course began on June 8, 2026, at IIT Madras Pravartak in Chennai, with the first batch consisting of 35 personnel. Training will cover critical areas such as network and cloud computing, digital forensics, cyber threat identification, artificial intelligence, machine learning, incident response, and legal frameworks. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen the CISF's technological capabilities and contribute to national cybersecurity initiatives. The CISF has previously trained over 1,600 personnel in cybersecurity and is working towards empanelment with CERT-In for information security auditing. The programme reflects the increasing importance of cybersecurity in protecting critical infrastructure across India.
