Copper Valley Telecom is set to develop the Oceanic Tatitlek Telecommunications Enhancement Route (OTTER), a 50km repeaterless subsea cable from Valdez to Tatitlek, enhancing connectivity for local communities. The project, managed by Pioneer Consulting, aims to improve broadband infrastructure and support long-term development in the region. The cable will be the first to land in Tatitlek, significantly benefiting its small population of around 90 residents and the nearby community of Ellamar. The OTTER project is scheduled to be operational by late 2027. Pioneer Consulting will oversee all aspects of the project, including design, procurement, and regulatory compliance. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity in Alaska's remote areas, which are currently served by various domestic subsea cables.
