A U.S. appeals court has upheld a restraining order preventing OpenAI and Jony Ive's hardware venture from using the name 'io' for their upcoming AI device. The ruling follows a lawsuit from the AI audio startup iyO, which claimed that OpenAI's branding was too similar to its own and related to similar products. OpenAI had acquired Ive's startup in May 2025 for approximately $6.5 billion.
