Cyber-Attack on Italy's Interior Ministry Targets Chinese Dissidents

Between 2024 and 2025, Italy's interior ministry experienced a cyber-attack attributed to Chinese hackers. The breach resulted in the compromise of a list containing the names of approximately 5,000 police officers, many of whom are involved in sensitive operations such as counter-terrorism and monitoring Chinese dissidents in Italy. Authorities confirmed that no sensitive operational data was stolen.
