Two students from Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC), Liam Dinsdale and Solomon Hackett, have secured places in the Cyber Security category of the WorldSkills UK National Finals, scheduled for November 2026. Both students have previously participated in the competition, with Solomon aiming for a medal after reaching the finals in 2025, and Liam returning after winning a bronze medal in 2024. Solomon is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security at Coventry University, while Liam is studying a Foundation Degree in Computer Science (Cyber Security Technologist) at BSDC. They both have practical experience, with Liam working as an Associate Hacker at Heretek. The WorldSkills UK competitions are designed to enhance students' technical and employability skills through real-world challenges. BSDC has consistently reached the finals since entering the competition in 2022.
