Cybersecurity Workshop Enhances Resilience in Karnali Province

The Information and Communication Technology Specialized Research Center under the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) organized a two-day cybersecurity workshop on April 9–10, 2026. The event aimed to strengthen institutional cyber resilience and enhance digital capacity among over 35 participants from more than 20 government agencies in Karnali Province. Attendees included representatives from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department. The workshop focused on raising cybersecurity awareness, bridging the digital divide, and improving digital literacy. It assessed the current cybersecurity posture of participating institutions and promoted the practical application of technical knowledge. Key speakers included Dr. Niroj Pandey, Dr. Bimala Devkota, and Pradeep Dhodari. The initiative is notable as it is the first comprehensive training program of its kind in the province, bringing together major government bodies and security agencies. Organizers emphasized the importance of developing strategies to safeguard systems against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. Similar training initiatives are rare in other provinces.
