On September 16, 2026, the Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) introduced SARAAB, an open-source AI model aimed at detecting deepfake videos, during GISEC Global 2026. Developed by an Emirati team, SARAAB is the first of its kind from a government entity in the Arab region. The model will be accessible on developer platforms for AI engineers and researchers to enhance its capabilities. Additionally, DESC launched the Dubai Cyber Skills Framework, which standardizes cybersecurity qualifications and training, and the ISR Auditor Certification Programme to improve auditing practices in compliance with Dubai's Information Security Regulation. These initiatives aim to bolster Dubai's cybersecurity resilience and foster innovation in the face of emerging threats.
