The Philippines and the European Union are collaborating on a Digital Economy Package to enhance digital connectivity, cybersecurity, and satellite data access. This initiative aims to support economic growth and disaster resilience, aligning with the Marcos administration's digital transformation agenda. The first Project Steering Committee Meeting took place on June 4, 2026, where plans were discussed to improve internet bandwidth and local expertise in 5G and cybersecurity. The program includes access to the EU's Copernicus Earth observation system for disaster risk reduction and public services. Funded by €20 million from the EU, with additional contributions from Finland and France, the initiative is led by the Philippine Space Agency and the EU Delegation. It is expected to improve public services and decision-making across the country.
