GlobalFoundries and Dutch startup Qualinx have successfully completed the first fully European-based semiconductor manufacturing flow for security-critical chips. This milestone, announced on June 10, 2026, demonstrates that chips for aerospace, defense, and critical infrastructure can be designed, manufactured, and delivered entirely within Europe. The QLX3xx design targets GNSS-based Positioning and Timing applications and is co-funded by the European Chips Act.
